Day Five

So, as we close the door on day five, I am continually amazed by Chance. He is pretty much his old self again. We picked up a Ruffwear web master harness that a few of you told me about. It is a wonderful tool. And he looks good wearing it. Now, they just need to make one with brakes. All he wants to do is run, I don’t think he even realizes that he is missing a leg at all. He never slows down until it’s bedtime. I am not sure what I really expected him to be acting like, but I didn’t think he would be like this already. His mom was exhausted trying to keep him from jumping on the bed though. Normally he likes to lay down and snuggle with her but she cant lift him up because he is too heavy and didn’t want him to hurt himself getting into the bed. But he is jumping up onto the couch on his own if we aren’t watching him close enough. Any way, it has been a very good day.

On a side note, I want to post a few pictures of Chance, but I can’t figure out how. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I wonder if you could copy and paste?

Regarding photos, when you are writing your blog entry you’ll see a toobar at the top. One of them is for inserting images. If you have the photo on your computer, you just browse and choose like you would ordinarily. If you still have trouble, you can send a message to Admin and he can walk you through.

I’m really happy your boy is having such an easy recovery. I’ve forgotten how old you said he is, but he sounds like he’s a youngster full of energy. And so many people have said that our dogs truly don’t realize they’ve lost a leg. I think that’s an overstatement (my dog very definitely knew it), but they do make the decision to adjust much faster than we ever would. (Can you imagine? We’d be trying to find the guy who took it and bring him to justice, and the dogs just decide to run a different way.)

Maybe you could make some kind of short platform to help Chance onto the bed or the couch. If he’s determined and he’s a bulldozer, then it might be safer than, well, leaving it to chance (sorry, couldn’t resist that one). I don’t know how high your bed is, but a platform big enough for him to stand on that his human mom could then help him up from might do the trick. And I’ll bet there’s a discussion forum here just for such things!

Glad to hear that Chance is doing so well- some lucky ones just seem to take it all in stride- or hop- or whatever…
For pictures- when you start a new post there should be a tool bar above the window you write in that has all the editing buttons. Above the tool bar there is a line that says Upload/Insert. Click on the first icon (a picture), that will open a new window that says ‘Add media files from your computer’. There is a file size limit- so be sure your pic isn’t too big. Once it uploads you can preview the pic and add titles or captions. Toward the bottom of that page there is a button that says ‘Insert into Post’.

Good luck! Looking forward to pictures of Chance.
